initial sketches

did some initial blocking out, tried to get a sense of composition in mind and some minimal coloring for warming up.

still not going in to too much detail

problems  that I ran in to so far: sketched out dozens of skate-able architecture pieces but I realized that its going to be harder than I thought to compose them in to one big space without it looking like a big mess of random stuff, so I’m gonna have to spend some time to think  that part through.

at least I have an proximate environment laid out :)

after uploading my sketches I noticed that my layout resembles  Christian Miranda’s initial blocking a lot, that kinda sux. Gonna have to work on that too :)

P.S. this site is incredibly lagging form me :/

I can understand why you're struggling with the composition on this one. Are you planning on designing a skate friendly city which has organic forms everywhere or an area for skating within a city?

I think you're hitting on something with image 3, btw.

Saulman _ well my vision is to build a hole city, of course considering that a skatepark mainly consists out of lots of small pieces its pointless to show it all on a big scale so I'm concentrating on a plaza type spot, but yeah the idea is a skate able organic city :)

Skaters paradise, eh? Developers are usually trying their best to deter skaters by putting obstacles everywhere or little metal strips along any long surfaces to break things up. I like your idea or thinking in the opposite direction and making the city a haven for skaters.

Best of luck with it.

Saulman yeah, those things are called grind blockers and they suck :D well anyway, thanks a lot :)

@andyskb

Indeed, it is going to be difficult to showcase all things in one place =P

In relation to your main layout, I think it could be a little bit more fluid, not so radial/ circular/ symmetric. This way, you could explore some more insteresting and organic forms, what I think that would beneficiate your project... Try to have a look at some skate park layouts and extrapolate some of their shape ideas into a city plaza or a urban environment. Also look for some less-rigid designs you have in your inspiration panel. Hope this helps something ;)

Good luck!

JoaoValerio _ yeah you're probably right about the layout. Gonna try out some more ideas today, thanks, man :)
