Neo Tokyo – Layout

Hello, I did some initial rough blocking to check the framing and composition but at this point I’m afraid to be slipping out of topic and creating just an action sci-fi scene. I did overlay the Akira freezer on top of the render so you can see what that huge sphere is.

Should I rethink my idea?

I like your concept. It's a good few years since I watched Akira but I remember the style and settings.

Like has been said before, the pillar in the foreground of your image looks a little out of place. I think this could just be in the composition.

If it is a support column, then why not have it even closer to the camera and shown in great detail with another one or few in the background, giving a sense of depth and scale to the structure. Just a thought.

Whatever you choose, I don't think you need to rethink. The whole cyberpunk genre is a great subject mattter.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep them in mind.

At this moment I'm doing a totally different concept, but this one will be saved just in case I can't reach my new idea. Saulman

The foreground pillar will be supporting a big glass with a small girl or guy against it looking outside, simulating an interior space. I clarified some ideas with this concept so as you said I'm like 10% happy. The composition maybe yet doesn't show its full power, but with the foreground action I think it can fit quite good, also the skylight is just to show the volume of the objects in the scene, I have in plan to do a night scene as it is a chaotic city that never sleep.

Thank you very much guys, I actually have in mind to redo the all concept and maybe add some character, probably one of the highway persecutions, with Kaneda and his amazing motorcycle heading to a tunnel, and a more massive architecture in the background.

Let's see what happen.

Hello,

I have two suggestions: 1. I would spin around your model and try to find nice and dramatic angles. Your current angle is blocked by the column.2. I can be wrong but I think the skylight is taking away the contrast needed for the Akira look. That can be distracting you. Looking forward to seeing your Akira world!

Good luck!

Perhaps you should brainstorm some more ideas, and do a "Pros vs Cons" against your initial idea?

I don't really believe in thrashing an idea. You if don't like 90% of this idea, then find the 10% you do, and restart with that as a startingpoint.

looks very interesting so far :) although I'd suggest to rethink blocking the composition like that with a foreground object, well unless its important in some way :)
