Cosmo Future Vancouver 3

I am in awe of the quality of ideas and work going on for the challenge – very inspiring and, as Ronen intended, so helpful to see other artists’ workflow.

Here are some quick lo-res renders of the initial massing and camera views I have (almost) decided on. The two I will be focusing on the most are;

1) where the sea enters the block housing in the foreground with bridge flyover and ‘pebble’ building in background as ‘Autumn’. I intend to have a parkland in the foreground with foliage, rain, sky and gust of wind to reflect the season.

2) An observation deck view from interior looking outward. Here I will also include a ‘holo-map’ that will be displayed on the glass of the viewing deck. This will show a 2d version of the aboriginal art wolf head that I used for the urban plan. This will be ‘Summer’ and will have a dusk/sunset lighting.

Phew! Will be working…but loving it.

This would be in Coal Harbour next to Stanley park? Looks really interesting.

If I can make a suggestiong - throw up a skybox or background image to give some perspective. We rendered the Port of Vancouver last month, and as soon as we threw the North Shore mountains in behind it, it suddenly looked real.

RealSpace3D Hi. Thanks for your comment and interest. Haven't totally decided location yet as looking for simple mesh for Nth Shore mountains...if you could help me with an optimized mesh I would really appreciate it.

We rarely model our backgrounds. Its so much easier, and usually looks better, to just use a high resolution photo.

There is a technique, however, for generating terrain from topographic maps. We used this to model the Capilano college area for a project.

Hi Steve. Nice start. I really like that main curved building. I will make sure to check your posts. Good luck!

ChristianMiranda Thanks for your encouragement. I think I may be losing a little sleep over this to get it done!
